What is International Women's Day?

International Women's Day (IWD) is a day of respect, appreciation and love that celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.

The very first Women's Day was organised by the Socialist Party of Americans, and took place in 1909 in New York. Since then, it has been opened up to the world and is held on March 8th each year.

Last year, organisations and individuals around the globe supported the #PledgeForParity campaign and committed to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, challenge bias, create inclusive flexible cultures, and much more.

This year – in 2017 - the theme is #BeBoldForChange. It's about calling on yourself and the people around you to help forge a better working world, and a more gender-inclusive world, too. And it's about taking groundbreaking action that will drive the greatest change for women.

Put simply, every one of us - women, men and non-binary people - can be a leader within our own circles when it comes to moving gender parity forward.

And here at HSS, we're going to #BeBoldForChange on International Women's Day 2017. We're proud to support women in our business, and we're going to help everyone advance and unleash limitless potential wherever they work and whatever role they do.

And we'd love to have you along for the ride.
